This page contains links to the main Project Management professional bodies, it is by no means complete due to the number of countries each with their own organisations, I will however do my best to include as many as possible. If you can suggest any more please contact me.
UK Professional Bodies:
The Association for Project Management (APM) is the largest UK professional body for project management, it also provides a widely recognised set of qualifications which map across to the IPMA standards. APM is also affiliated with the IPMA.
Project Management Institute UK Chapter is the UK arm of the PMI, in the UK it is a much smaller organisation than the APM.
US Professional Bodies:
Project Management Institute (PMI) is very prominent in the US although it is a worldwide association with footholds in other countries of varying sizes serving a similar aim to the IPMA of promoting the profession and providing a framework of qualifications.
American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (asapm). Is the US member affiliate for IPMA and promotes the IPMA qualifications within the US.
Canadian Professional Bodies:
Project Management Association of Canada is the Canadian member affiliate for IPMA promoting their qualifications within the US.
European / International Professional Bodies:
The International Project Management Assciation (IPMA) is a multinational body which ties together national Project Management Associations from many countries. IPMA actively promotes Project Management to businesses and organisations around the world to seek greater recognition of the profession. Some of the benefits include being able to link national qualifications with those in other countries making it much easier to work abroad by making your qualification internationally recognised. The IPMA hold an anual conference attended by Project Professionals from around the globe.
