The UK Government programme to replace fire and rescue service control rooms has been criticised as inadequately planned, poorly executed, and badly managed according to the Select Committee report published on 7 April 2010.
Key failures were identified as:
- Not learning from previous mistakes
- Poor Judgement
- Mismanagement
- Poor stakeholder management including a lack of openness and collaboration.
However the original aims and benefits of the scheme were sound suggesting that the business case was well constructed and optimism bias was kept in check.
